Lincoln in Lexington

Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky. Even though the Lincoln Family left Kentucky when he was young, Kentucky remained in Lincoln’s heart. He famously stated, “I, too, am a Kentuckian.” Due to his friendship with Joshua Speed, Lincoln returned to Kentucky multiple times and his marriage to Mary Todd brought him to Lexington several times. While in Lexington to visit the slave-holding Todd family, he saw the harshness of the slave auction. He was also able to enjoy his idol, Henry Clay, deliver one of his powerful speeches. He took in the sites that his wife, Mary, had seen when she was growing up in Lexington. On this tour we will also visit the sites enjoyed by the Lincolns on their travels to Lexington and hear the stories from those who welcomed them.

Pickup will be at the Lexington Visitor’s Center. The tour will last approximately 3-4 hours.

Price $60: Includes tours of the Mary Todd Lincoln House and Henry Clay’s Ashland Estate. Water and snacks will be provided.
